Thanks to her ubiquitous hit “Friday,” Rebecca Black quickly went from YouTube sensation to starring in a Katy Perry video for that singer’s equally ubiquitous hit “Last Friday Night.” Now Black is ready to take her career to the next level.

She’ll release a new song, “My Moment,” on July 18, according to The Hollywood Reporter The song was written by Brandon “Blue” Hamilton (Justin Bieber) and Quinton Tolbert and the production credits include Charlton Pettus.

The video is less kitschy (but perhaps just as literal) than her “Friday” video. It will include footage of her attending red-carpet events and receiving an award at her junior high school. It will “tell the story of her sudden rise to fame,” according to a statement. “It’s a fairy tale story, but it happened in real life.”

Black is also working on finishing up her five-track EP, which will be released in August. “We’re thinking about it; we have so many different options right now. We’re trying to decide which route we should take,” Black told MTV News earlier this year about her career plans and following up her viral smash.

“I really like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez; all just the fun upbeat stuff, teenager songs,” she said of her musical inspirations. “My dream duet would be Justin Bieber. Even just doing something with Taylor Swift, or any of my favorite artists would be so cool.”

Bachelorette's Chris Harrison 'Believed Brad and Emily Would Work'

Emily Maynard

When a couple get engaged on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, “I get caught up in the moment just like our viewers do,” host Chris Harrison tells PEOPLE.

But when a couple part ways, like Bachelor Brad Womack and his fiancée, Emily Maynard, recently did – well, that’s a different story.

“I believed Brad and Emily would work,” says Harrison, whose one-on-one chat with Maynard will air during The Bachelorette Monday, 8 p.m. on ABC. “I knew the interview was going to be very difficult for her and for me.”

From the moment her car pulled up in front of the Bachelor mansion, the single mom from Charlotte, N.C., couldn’t conceal her heartbreak, Harrison says.

“She saw the house and she saw me, and from there on it was really an emotional roller coaster for her. It was tough for her to be back in that house where it all started,” he says.

“She thought she’d be planning a wedding or even be married to Brad. She told me in the interview, ‘I never thought I would be this girl coming on this show saying why we broke up and why it couldn’t work.’ ”

Harrison says that if Maynard had her way, she never would have appeared on camera to confirm the split.

“I want people to know she was very reluctant to come on,” Harrison says. “Because of all of the media attention, all the tabloids, all the paparazzi and this insatiable appetite for information on the relationship, she kind of bit the bullet and was the one to step forward and it was incredibly brave of her to speak up all by herself.”

He added, “In a way, it wasn’t an interview, but this was her saying it out loud for the first time and making it real.”

‘True Blood’ recap: Sookie, Snooki, lost memories and one dead fairy

Pam Wow. Where to even begin?

So, Jason Stackhouse is still tied to that bed frame up in Hotshot, and now, thanks to some certainly illegal Mexican Viagra, that old, stained mattress is the site of — yes, I’ll just go ahead and call it — the most unsettling sex scene in the history of the show this side of Bill’s head-turning romp with Lorena last year. Midway through his migration from human to werepanther, Sookie’s brother is called on to begin his child-fathering duties by a desperate Crystal, who’s excited to replenish the ranks of her pack with some outsider blood. But really, did the young ‘uns have to stand in the background and watch the procreatin’ take place? That’s just not anything you want to see.

Better to think about our newly amnesiac Eric Northman, who agrees not to bite Sookie — or touch her without her permission — after she offers to help him recover his sense of himself. She takes Eric back to her home (which, of course, he doesn’t recollect having purchased) and invites him in — admonishing him not to track mud on the rug. She offers to find him something of Jason’s to wear, which, of course, seems silly as there’s no possible way Eric and Jason are the same size, but I digress.

In any case, Sookie phones Pam to tell her about Eric’s condition, and the vampire arrives at the house terrified for the safety of her maker. Pam is convinced that Bill sent Eric to deal with the witches’ coven, knowing full well that he might not make it out of the encounter alive (or is that undead?). Pam convinces Sookie that she needs to hide Eric for the immediate future, and Sookie reluctantly agrees.

As for the witches who cast that spell, Lafayette believes his best course of action is to go to Fangtasia and beg Eric’s forgiveness, though Jesus and Tara are convinced that doing any such thing is tantamount to suicide. Ignoring their advice, he ducks out of his shift at Merlotte’s and heads to the club, where Pam intends to torture whatever information Lafayette might have out of him. But before long, Tara and Jesus arrive to rescue him, Tara brandishing a gun loaded with wooden bullets as Jesus suggests that the circle might be able to reverse the spell if Lafayette is released unharmed. Pam tells them they have 24 hours to bring Marnie, the leader of the coven, to her or face, well, rather dire consequences.

Kate Hudson Gives Birth To Second Baby Boy

Posted on : 11-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

kate hudsonIt was a weekend of babies in the celebrity world, as Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy welcomed a baby boy into the world on Saturday night.  A rep confirmed that the Oscar-nominated actress gave birth to a healthy baby boy in Los Angeles, who weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz.  This little bundle of joy is Hudson and Belamy’s first baby together, and he’ll join big brother Ryder, Hudson’s 7-year-old son with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes (Kate certainly likes those musician types doesn’t she?).

Hudson and Bellamy officially announced their romance in late spring 2010 and confirmed Kate’s pregnancy in January 2011.  Hudson initially shot down rumors of tying the knot with her Grammy-winning beau, stating, “I don’t feel it necessary to get married,” on the British chat show The Graham Norton Show.  Yet on April 27th the mother of two debuted an engagement ring (worth an estimated $200,000) on the Today show that nearly knocked poor Matt Lauer out of his seat.  Hudson slyly remarked, “I haven’t really announced it, I was waiting for someone to notice.”  Who wouldn’t notice that thing?

Does the couple plan on having more kids in the future?  It’s highly likely.  Hudson told Marie Claire last month that “I love being pregnant…. I could be pregnant all the time.”  But for now it’s just the start to a wonderful family with a brand new baby for Grandma Goldie to spoil.  Hudson, Bellamy and the baby are expected to spend time together at Bellamy’s home in London while he records a new album.  Congrats to the happy parents!

The bass player for a rock band has been arrested and charged with robbing a Massachusetts pharmacy of prescription painkillers just hours before a show.

Attleboro police say Michael Todd, bassist for Coheed and Cambria, entered the Walgreen’s pharmacy after 1 p.m. on Sunday and showed the pharmacist a note on his phone saying he had a bomb.

Police say the 30-year-old Todd, of Anaheim, Calif., then made off with six bottles of Oxycontin and fled in a cab headed to the Comcast Center in Mansfield, where his band was to open for Soundgarden that night. He was arrested at the concert hall before the show, and the band played without him.

He’s scheduled to be arraigned today in Attleboro District Court.

The band’s website says the tour will continue.

Tom Felton

Tom Felton at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards (Reuters)

The actor who plays Hogwarts villain Draco Malfoy is set to cast a spell over hip-hop fans — as a Snoop Dogg-style rapper, The Sun reported Monday.

Tom Felton, 23 — famed as the upper-class bully Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” films — is aiming for a music career now the schoolboy wizard’s filmed adventures have come to an end.

Felton, who has clinched a recording deal with an independent label, told The Sun, “I was thinking of doing some [British hip-hop group] N-Dubz-style stuff.”

“I’m going to change my image — backward caps, the lot,” he added.

Despite trying his hand at rap, Felton insisted he will not be giving up his acting career any time soon. He has five films in production — including a lead role in “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.”

The eighth and final “Harry Potter” film premiered in London last week.

Victoria Beckham, Kate Hudson Welcome Babies

Posted on : 11-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

It was a big weekend for celebrity baby debuts. Two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Victoria Beckham and Kate Hudson, gave birth to their children over the weekend.

Kate Hudson and her fiancé Matthew Bellamy of the band Muse welcomed a baby boy. A rep for the actress confirmed the birth to People.com, saying that the couple “welcomed a healthy baby boy.” The baby’s name has not yet been announced.

It’s the first child for the couple, but the second for the actress, who has a 7-year-old son, Ryder, with ex-husband and Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson.

Hudson had incorrectly predicted that the baby would be a girl and laughed that she’s much more settled this time around when it comes to family. “This is a totally different pregnancy, completely,” the actress said in April, according to Us magazine. “It couldn’t be more opposite. … With Ryder, I didn’t even have a nursery. I didn’t really have a house until I was seven months pregnant.”

And Victoria Beckham and her superstar soccer player husband David Beckham added a baby girl to their already large family. Harper Seven was born Sunday morning. She’s the couple’s fourth child and first daughter.

“[The couple's sons] Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are excited to welcome their new baby sister to the family,” the couple’s spokesperson Jo Milloy told People.com.

Earlier this year, the former Spice Girl announced, “Obviously, we’re very lucky to be expecting again, and this is the first time I’m going to say it: It’s a little girl.” Her husband added, “We’re still in shock. Obviously, having three boys, you kind of expect another one, so finding out a little girl is in there is surprising, but, obviously, we are over the moon. Our three boys are happy and excited.”

LOS ANGELES, Calif. —

Jennifer Lopez stopped by NBC’s “Today” show on Monday morning, but the superstar didn’t announce any news about her future on FOX’s “American Idol.”

Instead, the triple-threat announced her involvement in the iHeartRadio Music Festival, which also includes music heavy-hitters like Lady Gaga, Coldplay, her fellow “Idol” judge Steven Tyler and the Black Eyed Peas.

The two-day festival in Las Vegas, taking place on September 23 and 24, will also feature Kenny Chesney, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Jane’s Addiction, Nicki Minaj, John Mayer, David Guetta, Rascal Flatts, Bruno Mars, Sublime with Rome and a special performance by Usher and Sting.

“Today’s” Ann Curry didn’t let J.Lo go without asking when she’ll announce her “Idol” plans.

“I love working on ‘American Idol,’ I love doing it. I have no accouchement to make as of this moment, but I promise, you guys will be the first,” she said.

The star also told Ann that she’s been enjoying her downtime this summer.

“I’ve actually been resting for the past week. I had a little week off and I got to spend so much time with the babies, I was so excited,” she continued. “I’m going to get back to work soon. I have a film that I’m going onto in a couple of days… I’m very grateful to be working and having a great moment in my career right now.”

True Blood Recap: Adventures in Babysitting

True Blood Recap: Adventures in Babysitting

Photo: John P. Johnson /HBO

Last week left us hanging, the image of a shirtless Alexander Skarsgard forever burned — as if it weren’t already — in our collective conscious. Not a bad thing, but questions need to be answered! Powers have shifted in the vampire community, Jason’s in a bind, and there’s a new coven in town that looks like trouble. Tally ho! To the recap!

“What are you?”
Eric’s shirtless, shoeless, and acting a fool. He gives Sookie the old “you smell like wheat and honey and sunlight” line, but she’s not buying it. He comes at her with fangs bared to prove his point and she makes a run for it. Too bad, Sooks. Eric moves faster than you’d like to admit. A brief chase ensues and ends with a punch to the nose. “I’m not your fuckin’ dinner!” Sooks chirps.

Snooki — excuse us, Sookie — realizes that something is amiss with Eric once he starts speaking Swedish. Whatever crazy hoodoo magic Marnie cast rebooted Eric. He knows he’s a vampire, but everything else is gone. Our girl is down to help out. First, some ground rules. Do not touch the Sookie. Do not bite the Sookie. Eric agrees, and they lope off.

While Eric settles in, Sookie calls Pam, who’s going to town on a plaid-clad ‘banger named Jethro. Pam can’t be fussed to leave, but when she hears that Eric’s forgotten who he is, she’s gone in a flash. Pam sees that her maker is in serious trouble and begs Sookie to hide him. It’s clear to her that Bill sent Eric into this coven as a trap. This little hiccup is precisely what the AVL needs to assassinate Eric.

At her house, Sookie leads Eric into his cubby. He’s confused, but appreciative, and continues to ask Sookie if she’s “his.” Sooks informs Eric that she most certainly doesn’t belong to anyone else, and then he gets that look in his eyes — “What are you,” he asks. Eric, step aside, and let the lady up the ladder!

Sookie’s not sure she wants this burden, so she pays Alcide a visit. After an awkward catch-up chat, Sookie lets him know that she wants him to shelter Eric. As Alcide processes, Debbie enters. She’s been clean for a year now, and is awfully sorry about that one time she tried to kill Sookie. She’s got Jesus and Alcide on her side, and really, who wouldn’t be okay without that? This is all a bit much. Sooks rejects the proffered Vienna sausage and squash pickle, and beats feet back to her car.

She’s Havin’ My Baby
Back at Hotshot, Jason is writhing in agony as Felton guards him with a shotgun. Around a campfire nearby, feral children eat raw meat and Uncle Luther lays out the were-panther creation myth. Panthers used to be gods, but then the sky people came and turned everyone against them, except for two rebels named Ghost Mama and Ghost Daddy. The panther gods ate them, they absorbed the magic via osmosis, then the panther barfed them out, and voilà — were-panthers! Were-panthers: They come from vomit. Jason wants out, but not yet: He just has to change and make babies with Crystal before he’s released from his misery.

For Andy’s sake, we hope Jason makes it out of Hotshot alive. He’s parked outside Merlotte’s, jonesin’ for V and moral support. When he can’t deal anymore, he puts some V on his finger and makes sure he gets every drop. Sam pops his head in, scaring the crap out of Andy. When Sam asks if he’s been drinking again, Andy throws a punch. When Sam punches back, Andy pulls out the taser and the gun, and stumbles toward his car, yelling about tree removal and fire hazards. Caution, Sheriff. Let’s hope your sponsor gets out of Hotshot alive.

The fever is taking hold, which means Jason’s changing, or he’s dying. Crystal, in crazy-person rollers and stained peignoir, rubs healing mud into his wounds. He’s been looking for a purpose in life, and now he has it — to be the new Ghost Daddy and to save the race from extinction, She feeds him Mexican Viagra and he passes out, only to wake up to Crystal, all gussied up and trying her damndest to make a baby. There’s a whole line of Hotshot ladies in their Sunday best, waiting their turn to mount Jason and make the next generation.

What We Talk About When We Talk About Love
Back at his mansion, Bill watches a YouTube clip of a vamp feeding on a lady by a Dumpster, all caught on-camera by the friendly folks at www.vamp-kills.com. The video ends, and Bill confronts the vamp in question. It may have been entrapment, but being caught on-camera feeding on a human is very illegal. His punishment? The true death. Bill dispatches the protesting offender to his guards, and in comes Jessica. She wants both Advil and advice. When she confesses her indiscretion to Bill, he tells her to “vamp up.” If she loves that big lug, she needs to ’fess up to Hoyt.

At home, Hoyt’s just hanging out on the couch. Jess shows up, and she spills the beans — she fed on someone else. Hoyt’s not pleased, and while she didn’t sleep with the other guy, it doesn’t seem to matter. For him there’s no one else but her. Jessica can’t change the past but she can sure glamour it away.

Love — or at least sex — is in the air for the King of Louisiana. He’s at dinner with Portia and she’s got a proposition for Bill: Why not add some sex into their already successful business relationship? After dating a closet racist, a gay man, and someone bad in the sack, she’s ready to go after what she wants. Bill is bemused, but warns her — his heart is too old to accept new love. Whatever, Portia’s down. Check please!

Forgiveness, Possession, Retribution
Back at the coven, Marnie is recovering from her episode. Jesus is pissed and understandably so; last he heard, Eric was a mean old thing who kept his boyfriend in a dank basement turning a giant donkey wheel. Tara’s not thrilled; she’s been in Bon Temps two hours and she’s already been threatened by a vampire. Everyone’s fired up, ranting about retribution, but Lala cautions them against this. Eric Northman is a powerful entity. It’s better to beg for forgiveness instead of raising hell. Tara lays it out: Eric’s a vampire, pure and simple. He’s in it for the blood.

Over dinner alfresco, Lala tells it like it is. He knows that Eric won’t forget about what happened, so he wants to talk it out with him. Jesus and Tara know better, and beg Lafayette to leave well enough alone.

Tara stops by Merlotte’s to ask Sookie for a favor. Eric has got to forgive the coven. Without letting on to Eric’s secret, Sookie assures Tara that Lafayette is safe.

Enter Sam, stage right. He hasn’t seen Tara in a while. Time to take tequila shots and catch up. Tara clarifies her reasons for leaving. It wasn’t because Sam’s a shifter. Her life in Bon Temps had taken a turn for the crazy and she needed a change of pace. Before things get too awkward, Jesus runs in from the kitchen — Lala’s missing.

Lafayette didn’t quite listen to Tara and Jesus, so he ends up in the basement of Fangtasia being tossed around by Pam and her spike-epaulets. Mess with her maker, and she’ll kill you. Tara and Jesus come to the rescue. Tara’s got a gun loaded with wooden bullets, trained on Pam. They have a way to fix Eric. If they can just get Marnie, she can reverse the spell.

Back at Moon Goddess Emporium, Marnie kneels before a makeshift altar, imploring the spirit that possessed her to come back. Out comes the ceremonial dagger and she cuts her arm, dripping blood into a chalice. When that first attempt doesn’t work, she tries it again. Still no dice, so with tears streaming down her face, she really goes for it. She runs back to the sink to clean up and lo and behold — there’s a lady in the mirror!

It’s a Gas
Maxine sits at her kitchen table, using QVC to teach Tommy how to read. There’s a knock on the door, and Tommy answers. It’s a prospector looking for Maxine. Her house is sitting on a huge amount of natural gas. Smooth as silk, Tommy lies through his teeth. Of course he’s Maxine’s son, and of course he’ll let her know. Ten thousand dollars an acre gets that gleam back in his eye. Something tells us Tommy isn’t reformed, after all.

At Merlotte’s, Tommy and his leg brace fill Sam in on his latest scheme — buy Maxine’s house from her and split the proceeds from the natural gas. Sam’s not into this and Tommy thinks Sam’s rejecting him. There’s a difference between right and wrong, and Sam recognizes that. It’s clear that the reconciliation isn’t going as well as planned.

Bippity Boppity Boo
Later that night, at the Stackhouse homestead, our favorite forgetful Viking has gone missing. Sookie waits up, reading a Charlaine Harris novel (nice touch, A-Ball). She sees a ball of light outside and investigates. It’s Claudine, who is very insistent on taking Sookie back to Fairyland. It’s where she belongs. The Fae were a bit too weird for Sookie to be around, plus they’re harvesting people, so she wants nothing to do with it. Besides, when have fairies ever helped her? Oh — that time outside of Merlotte’s, when she wrapped a chain around a guy’s neck to get him off her. Claudine sent the energy that awoke the light within her. It’s a bit much for Sooks, who walks away just as Eric whooshes by and starts feeding on Claudine. Sookie yells halfheartedly for him to stop, but Claudine expires, turning into a needle-toothed pointy nosed elf, and then dust. “You just killed my fairy godmother!” Sooks exclaims. Good Eric?

Watson planning ‘normal’ life following ‘pressurised’ Potter films

EMMA WATSON is looking forward to a more “normal” existence now the “hard and pressurised” filming of HARRY POTTER is over.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, released this month (Jul11), marks the end of the decade-long wizard franchise.

The stars, including Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, were out in force at the London premiere on Thursday night (07Jul11) and some headed to the official afterparty following the screening.

Watson was snapped dancing with pals, and she told Britain’s People newspaper, “I’m looking forward to just being a normal young woman again.”

The stars adds, “It has been quite hard and pressured making the Harry Potter films. I’m so happy to be out having fun with my friends. It will be nice to take a break and step back a bit. It’ll be the first time I’ll be able to look back and properly enjoy the success we’ve all had. Its been incredible.

“Its just nice to come out, have a dance, have a drink and just let my hair down. We’re having a really good time and the disco’s really fun. They’re playing some classic tunes tonight.”

But Watson admits she’ll miss some elements of working on the movies: “Although I’m having a lot of fun tonight, every now and again I feel really sad because this is it, this is the end. I can’t believe this is actually the final Harry Potter wrap party.

“I’ve got so many happy memories making these films that obviously this is going to be sad. But I don’t want to be sad. I want to enjoy this time with my friends and all the people here who made the last 10 years so special. I’m going to miss everyone so much. Rupert and Dan are such lovely guys and very funny. I know we’ll be meeting up soon, we’re like a little family when we’re together.”

Intruder Alert: Halle Berry Calls Cops Over Stranger Sightings

Posted on : 11-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

Halle Berry called 911 twice this weekend, both times because a suspicious man was spotted on her property.

The first incident took place on Saturday, as police arrived at Berry’s Los Angeles home after someone leaped over her home’s protective wall and was lurking in the front yard. Guests ran out to confront him, but the intruder fled.

Play Time

A similar situation developed yesterday. Once again, though, the unwanted man was gone by the time cops – and even a helicopter! – answered Berry’s call.

Many believe the man in question was a member of the paparazzi. Berry, especially in light of her ongoing custody battle, is one of the most photographed celebrities in Hollywood.

‘Transformers’ Fends Off ‘Horrible Bosses’ At Box Office

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” fended off competition from both an R-rated comedy and a family-friendly film as the third entry in the giant robot franchise maintained the #1 position at the box office with an estimated $47 million during its second weekend in theaters.

“Transformers” passed “The Hangover II” to become the highest-grossing film of 2011 thus far with its 12-day domestic haul of $261 million and crossed the half-billion dollar mark worldwide.

“Horrible Bosses” wasn’t able to dethrone Michael Bay’s CGI heavy explosion-fest but it does bear the distinction of being the only film in the top five with mostly favorable reviews from critics. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day star in the black comedy, which opened at #2 with $28.1 million.

“Bosses” outperformed any of the films released by its stars in 2010, but the debut of “Zookeeper” didn’t rank highly in the filmography of Kevin James. Originally intended for a summer 2010 release, “Zookeeper” opened with $21 million to land at #3 on the box-office scorecard. Produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison (and featuring a monkey voiced by Sandler), the animal-heavy rom-com opened better than “The Dilemma” but didn’t come close to “Paul Blart: Mall Cop.”

“Cars 2″ dropped to #4 with $15.2 million. The animated sequel is the least-attended movie in Pixar’s history and has a three-week total of $148.8 million. Cameron Diaz’s “Bad Teacher” was #5 with $9 million for a three-week total of $78.7 million, which is almost four times its estimated production budget.

This weekend’s new releases include a little movie about a wizard named Harry Potter.

Check out everything we’ve got on “Horrible Bosses.”

Rupert Murdoch should drop BSkyB bid, says Ed Miliband

0

Posted on : 11-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

Ed Miliband has called for Rupert Murdoch to “drop” his bid for BSkyB and accused David Cameron of giving an incomplete account of what he knew before he appointed Andy Coulson to the most important communications post in government.

In remarks deepening his attacks on both the media tycoon and the prime minister, Miliband said he “won’t rest until we ensure this [BSkyB] deal doesn’t go ahead”.

Miliband said Murdoch should “drop the bid for BSkyB”, which he said was “untenable” in the light of phone-hacking allegations.

Monday’s comments harden his party’s position: he had previously said that the Commons should be able to vote on Wednesday to delay the News Corporation takeover bid.

But a major element of Miliband’s press conference was turning up the heat on Cameron and the question of which of his immediate circle of advisers might have warned him about hiring Coulson as his head of communications.

Seizing on media reports that two of Cameron’s most senior aides were given information about Coulson to pass on to the prime minister, Miliband said that Cameron’s current account “does not add up”.

When asked if he was accusing the prime minister of lying, Miliband said: “I’m not going to throw around allegations, but … what I’m saying is the prime minister has a whole series of unanswered questions on this issue.

“On Friday at his press conference, David Cameron said – and I quote – ‘no one gave me any specific information’, which might have dissuaded him from appointing Andy Coulson.

“Yet the Guardian newspaper says it had discussions with Steve Hilton, his senior aide, detailing the facts about Andy Coulson’s decision to rehire Jonathan Rees, a convicted criminal. According to the Guardian, these included the fact Rees had been jailed for seven years for a criminal conspiracy, after which he had been rehired by Coulson’s News of the World. And the fact that Rees’s illegal activities on behalf of the News of the World, including making payments to the police … this information was passed by Steve Hilton to the prime minister’s chief of staff, Ed Llewellyn. You cannot get more specific information than this.

“The prime minister must now explain. Did Ed Llewellyn tell him about this evidence and did he ignore it? Or did Mr Llewellyn fail to tell him about this?

“Either people have been misled about what Mr Cameron knew or Mr Llewellyn has completely failed in his duties.”

The government was “dragging its feet” in setting up an independent inquiry, Miliband said, since evidence could currently be being destroyed in places including Downing Street and Conservative central headquarters.

He also revealed that he would tell the prime minister in their private meeting on Wednesday that the current terms of reference for the second inquiry – covering the culture in the media, rather than the specific phone-hacking allegations of the first inquiry – were wrong and he was “determined to put that right”.

Miliband said: “The inquiry must have the right terms of reference, covering all the key issues including the culture and practices of the newspaper industry and the relationship between the police and certain newspapers. Neither of these appears to be in the prime minister’s current terms of reference. And I’m determined to put that right.”

Last Monday, Miliband led a gear change in the response of the political classes to the allegations of wrongdoing at News International, becoming the most senior politician to admit the relationship between the press and politicians had allowed the questioning of journalistic practices to be muted. He became the first to call for the resignation of the NI executive Rebekah Brooks.

Labour intends to use its Wednesday parliamentary slot to force a vote on whether Murdoch’s News Corporation bid to own all of BSkyB should be allowed to go ahead before the criminal investigation into the News of the World is completed.

At the press conference this morning Miliband said he could not reveal what his party’s motion would be because the government was changing its position “by the hour”.

He said: “The government, having repeatedly said there was no alternative to their flawed process, now appears to be moving towards my position.

“They are doing it not because they want to, but because they have been forced to. Let me be clear: this chaos and confusion in government is all of their own making. They should never have embarked on this sort of process.”

He also criticised the government’s pace in moving to set up the judge-led inquiry, saying it should be established immediately to eliminate the chances of critical evidence being destroyed.

Miliband said: “We need to make sure it is set up immediately. Any less means there is a risk that evidence will be destroyed. As soon as an inquiry is established, tampering or destruction of any documents becomes a criminal offence. And that includes any relevant documents in No 10 Downing Street and Conservative HQ. The inquiry should be set up under the Inquiries Act so it can compel witnesses to attend.”

He added: “I won’t rest until we ensure this deal won’t go ahead.”

A drunken, 22-year-old aspiring actor broke in to the famed Ed Sullivan Theater where David Letterman‘s “Late Show” tapes and caused $2,000 worth of damage.

0711_jimmy_BN_FB
Jimmy Whittemore (above) was busted early Sunday morning after kicking in the theater’s glass doors, trashing the box office and lobby, turning over garbage cans and knocking over velvet rope stands.

The Letterman stage is padlocked so Whittemore couldn’t get inside.

Whittemore was hospitalized briefly after his arrest for a cut on his head and was later charged with burglary and criminal mischief.

Cops says Whittemore has no direct connection to Letterman or the studio and blamed it all on alcohol.

It has been nearly two years since Jaycee Dugard was rescued 18 years after her abduction by a sex offender, but the 31-year-old’s incredible story of survival is just as moving and powerful.

Diane Sawyer agrees.

“Everything she says makes you stop and examine yourself and your life,” the news anchor, whose exclusive interview with Dugard aired Sunday on a two-hour ABC Primetime special, told PEOPLE for the July 18 issue. “She will astonish you.”

Asked if Dugard was emotional during the interview, Sawyer, 65, said she saw “lots of different moods, and when she goes back in time, you can see it in her eyes, you can see it in her face: She remembers with such vivid clarity what it was like to be 11, in this nightmare … What you see moving through her eyes is unforgettable.”

Baby Boy Hudson-Bellamy has a couple ounces on Harper Seven Beckham!

Kate Hudson has yet to reveal the name of the son she and fiance Matt Bellamy welcomed in L.A on Saturday night — but the actress did share her happy news with pals in a short email.

PHOTOS: How Kate Hudson celebrated her baby bump

Hudson, 32, revealed that her newborn weighs 7 lbs. 12 oz. (Victoria and David Beckham‘s daughter Harper Seven, born Sunday morning in L.A., weighed 2 ounces less.)

PHOTOS: Her bikini body through the years

And the Oscar-nominated star doesn’t want her pals to gift her with fancy strollers or couture jumpers. In lieu of gifts, she asked for “celebration trees” to be planted via Barcham Trees, a British service used by Queen Elizabeth herself. She similarly asked for tree-plantings instead of pricey presents at her June 5 baby shower in Malibu, attended by folks like Courteney Cox, Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie.

As previously reported at Us Weekly, Hudson and Bellamy, 33, plan to spend their first days with their new son at the Muse rocker’s London home while he records a new album.

The little boy’s big brother is Ryder, Hudson’s 7-year-old with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes.

How Harper Seven Beckham Got Her Name | David Beckham, Victoria Beckham

David and Victoria Beckham

David and Victoria Beckham are spending quiet family time together welcoming their new arrival – and first baby girl – Harper Seven Beckham, and relishing their privacy, a rep for the couple tells PEOPLE.

But the question lingers: How did the parents of three boys – Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8½, and Cruz, 6½ – ever arrive at the name Harper, let alone Seven?

It may not be as complicated as you think.

Harper is an old English name that Victoria has always loved, PEOPLE has learned, and seven is considered a very lucky spiritual number.

In addition, Harper Seven was born Sunday morning in L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center weighing 7 lbs. (and 10 oz.) in the seventh hour in the seventh month – on the seventh day of the week.

As sports fans can’t help but also note, seven was David’s jersey number for Manchester United and the English national team.

Speaking of numbers, the Irish bookmaking firm of Paddy Power has offered odds of 100:1 on Harper’s following in dad’s footsteps and going out for the England Women’s team. The odds of her becoming a singer in the mode of her former Spice Girl mom are 16:1.

‘Horrible Bosses’ manages nicely at the box office

0

Posted on : 11-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

First came “Bridesmaids,” then “Bad Teacher,” and now “Horrible Bosses” has continued the winning streak for R-rated comedies at the box office, even while overall ticket sales are down.

“Horrible Bosses” this weekend became the latest raunchy, low-budget movie to resonate at the multiplex. The picture, about three guys who are fed up with their evil superiors – including a foul-mouthed dentist played by Jennifer Aniston – and plot to murder them, collected a solid $28.1 million, according to an estimate from distributor Warner Bros. That was enough to beat the weekend’s other new release, the Kevin James PG-rated comedy “Zookeeper,” which opened to $21 million.

“I think audiences have shown this summer that they want to go out and just have fun,” Jeff Goldstein, executive vice president for domestic distribution at Warner Bros., said of the New Line Cinema film. “There’s a lot of reality out there that’s too sobering, and people like to go and laugh in a theater. ‘Horrible Bosses’ was cool and hip, but it was also something that people can relate to – having the boss from hell. Just like everyone who saw ‘The Hangover’ knows what it’s like to go out and have a wild night.”

But “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” easily was the No. 1 movie for the second consecutive weekend. The 3-D film grossed an additional $47 million in the U.S. and Canada over the weekend, bringing the movie’s domestic total to $261 million, the highest of the year. Abroad, the film is performing even more impressively, having racked up $384 million from 59 foreign markets.

American audiences who saw the movie over the July 4 holiday loved it, assigning it an average grade of A, according to market research firm CinemaScore. Positive word of mouth seemed to pay off this weekend, as ticket sales for “Dark of the Moon” fell just 52 percent, less than the 61 percent the second “Transformers” film “Revenge of the Fallen” dropped on its second weekend in theaters in 2009.

Still, overall business was down, with ticket sales off about 18 percent compared to the same weekend in 2010. Though summer blockbusters have helped 2011 revenues rebound somewhat, box-office receipts are down roughly 9 percent, while attendance has fallen 10 percent since last year.

Meanwhile, the well-reviewed “Horrible Bosses” was also received well by audiences, garnering an average grade of B-plus. The movie, whose ensemble cast includes Jason Bateman and Colin Farrell, appealed more to an older crowd, as 64 percent of the audience was 25 and older.

New Line spent only $37 million to produce “Horrible Bosses,” far less than the budget of “Zookeeper.” The latter, about a man who confides in talking animals when his engagement falls apart, was co-financed by Sony and MGM for $80 million. Sony took over its worldwide distribution and delayed the movie’s release last year amid the financial troubles of MGM, which subsequently filed for bankruptcy reorganization.

The $21 million opening for “Zookeeper” placed it far behind the debut of James’ last family-friendly film, 2009′s “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” which took in $31.8 million on its first weekend and went on to collect $183.3 million worldwide.

Though the film received harsh critical reviews, audiences liked it just as much as “Horrible Bosses,” also assigning it a B-plus. As expected, the movie appealed mostly to a family crowd; 52 percent of the audience were parents with their children.

Sony is hoping that “Zookeeper” will be able to make up much of its production costs overseas, where the film opened this weekend in 19 foreign markets, including Germany and Mexico, but collected only a tepid $7.5 million. Traditionally, American comedies haven’t always played well abroad, though movies with talking animals are typically more popular internationally.

But in recent years, James’ films have had more success selling tickets domestically than abroad. Only $37 million of the worldwide tally for “Paul Blart” came from overseas. Similarly, 2010′s “Grown Ups,” an ensemble PG-13-rated comedy in which he starred alongside comedians Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, grossed a smaller portion of its $271.4 million worldwide total internationally, with $109.4 million of the receipts coming from abroad.

In limited release, Sony Pictures Classics debuted “Beats, Rhymes Life,” a documentary about the band a Tribe Called Quest, on four screens. The film, which played in Los Angeles and New York, grossed $120,016 over the weekend for a respectable per-theater average of $30,004.

‘Big Brother’: Do tonight’s nominations matter?

If you consider yourself a rabid Big Brother fan (and we know there are millions of you out there), then you probably already know that Dick Donato left the house shortly after the show’s premiere on Thursday. His departure should mean that tonight’s nomination ceremony will be a practice in futility: The house already had its first evictee, and his name was Evel Dick.

Personally, I can’t be more pleased about this surprise turn of events. (Shocker! I find him absolutely reprehensible). But his departure has spawned quite a few online conspiracy theories, namely that he staged some sort of Diary Room blowup and demanded an immediate eviction just so he could use the ordeal to promote his website. Then again, the dynamic between Evel Dick and his daughter Daniele on premiere night was just too uncomfortable to overlook, which could also mean that Daddy-O just didn’t want to spend another minute with a daughter who couldn’t stand him so he sought a quick getaway. After all, Dick did say that it had been three years since he had spoken to Daniele, who turned out to be quite the vision with her blonde-turned-brunette locks. (Hey, even I can muster up a few pleasantries about the Donato clan).

I’m hoping tonight’s nomination ceremony can shed some light on this mystery, even though CBS said we wouldn’t learn the full story until Wednesday’s episode. At the same time, I’m also feeling like the episode may be a waste of time because no one should have to go home if Dick already did. What do you think, BB fans? Weigh in with your opinions and/or conspiracy theories below. (Spoilers who frequent genius sites like Jokers Updates, refrain from spilling too much, please). And check back later for a full BB recap.

Television Review: ‘Alphas’

0

Posted on : 11-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

I don’t know about anyone else, but they had me at David Strathairn.

“Alphas,” Syfy’s new drama about ordinary people with extraordinary powers who come together to fight crime, is a fresh take on an old premise, a sit-up-and-take-notice show that, while not the fanboy catnip “Battlestar Galactica” once was, should bring many more eyeballs to the struggling network.

It was no slam-dunk, especially in the wake of the failure of “Heroes” and last season’s dud “No Ordinary Family.” Created by Zak Penn (“X-Men: The Last Stand,” “The Incredible Hulk”) and Michael Karnow, it got bounced out of ABC during the writers strike while the script included a character whose superpower was the ability to shatter glass with a whisper.

It landed at Syfy, where it wisely lost the whisperer and gained a terrific cast, headed by Strathairn, who plays the deceptively paternal leader of a group of “alphas,” whose abilities come with refreshingly believable downsides. The super-strength of former FBI agent Bill Harken (Malik Yoba) comes only in short bursts followed by exhaustion, Rachel Pirzad (Azita Ghanizada) can heighten her senses but only one at a time and at the expense of the other four, Gary Bell (Ryan Cartwright) can process digital information out of thin air but is autistic, and Nina Theroux (Laura Mennell) can bend people’s will to her own but … well, it’s not clear what the downside to that is but no doubt it has something to do with failed relationships.

The pilot’s opening scene, directed by “Lost’s” Jack Bender, is a bit clunky — a mild-mannered and super-handsome grocery clerk is turned into an automaton assassin by a cellphone signal (how many times have we seen that before?). But eventually Strathairn swims on screen as Dr. Lee Rosen, talking herbal and looking all Ghandi-esque in specs and a Speedo, and it gets interesting. The government wants Rosen and his team to solve a seemingly impossible murder — a suspect is shot in a closed interrogation room with no sign of shooter or weapon.

Watching Strathairn anchor scene after scene that could easily devolve into sci-fi camp, one is reminded once again of the importance of a good casting director. The Emmy winner and Oscar nominee is one of those solid and nuanced performers who can do just about anything and raises all boats as he does it. In “Alphas” he is buoyed by strong writing and surrounded by a sturdy fleet.

This being unapologetic genre, there are more than a few stereotypes — Mennell’s Nina is in-your-face hot as only a sci-fi heroine can be, and Cartwright, last seen as the beloved Mr. Nigel-Murray on “Bones,” may have watched “Rain Man” once too often (he too longs to drive the car), but his maestro-like hand movements as he manipulates the screens he sees in the air more than compensate. He is also witty, as are all of the characters, each of whom bristles with an intriguing assortment of human tics and foibles — a brief scene in which former agent Harken is trying to find his keys is a lesson in how to capture marriage in a few well-chosen strokes.

As any fan of sci fi or fantasy or horror knows, nothing is more important than quickly establishing the essential humanity of your characters before launching them into the stratosphere of implausibility. Have we seen shows about elite teams and shadow organizations before? Is the crime that kicks off the pilot of “Alphas” literally impossible and too quickly figured out? Are these characters essentially watered down X-Men? Yes, yes and yes.

But “Alphas” deftly balances all the building blocks of great genre — nonhuman abilities, twisty plot, cool special effects, smart dialogue and characters you want to spend more time with. And that’s the most impressive superpower of all.

Halle Berry Calls 911 Over Intruder … AGAIN

Halle Berry called 911 today — the second time she’s done so this weekend — after she once again spotted an intruder on her property.

0628_halle_berry_EX_01
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … when they arrived on scene, the intruder was gone. We’re told three cars — and even a helicopter — showed up to investigate.

As we first reported, Halle got freaked out on Saturday when she spotted a man roaming around her property. The man in question could be a paparazzo … as photogs are known to camp out on her block, waiting for a shot.

Kate Hudson welcomes baby

Posted on : 11-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

Kate Hudson’s 7-year-old son Ryder is a big brother.

The Something Borrowed actress and her fiancé, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy are the proud new parents to a “healthy baby boy,” her rep told Us Magazine. She delivered her newborn Saturday night in Los Angeles.

This is the first child for Bellamy, 33, and the second for Hudson, 32, who had Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson.

The couple, who has been dating since 2010, toyed with the idea of marriage. “I don’t feel it necessary to get married,” she told The Graham Norton Show. “I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.” The engagement ring she showed off to Matt Lauer in April is evidence she had a change of heart.

The couple kept the sex of the child a secret, even from themselves, until the arrival. Her gut instinct told her she was having a girl, reports People. Despite having another boy, she could not be more elated.

Are more children on the way? Hudson is not opposed to the idea, “I love being pregnant,” she said in a Marie Claire interview. “Gosh, I could be pregnant all the time.”

Hudson and her growing family are planning to move to London while Muse is in the studio.

It’s A Girl For Victoria & David Beckham!

LOS ANGELES, Calif. —

Victoria and David Beckham are proud parents to their first baby girl, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“David and Victoria Beckham are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter,” Beckham family spokesperson Jo Milloy said in a statement to Access on Sunday. “Happy and healthy, she arrived at 7:55 AM this morning at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles and weighed 7lbs., 10oz.

“Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are excited to welcome their new baby sister to the family,” the statement continued, referring to the couple’s three sons.

Later in the day on Sunday, Becks hit up his Facebook page to reveal the new bundle of joy’s name.

“I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham,” David announced, also giving an update on his wife and the rest of the brood. “Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister.”

Victoria and David have three boys — Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 6.

It was back in March that an excited David confirmed to reporters at an event for his team, the LA Galaxy, that the pair was expecting a daughter.

“Obviously, we’re very lucky to be expecting again, and this is the first time I’m going to say it — it’s a little girl,” David said at the LA Galaxy’s annual fan luncheon in ESPN Zone at L.A Live, ESPN reported at the time.

“We’re still in shock. Obviously, having three boys, you kind of expect another one, so finding out a little girl is in there is surprising, but, obviously, we are over the moon,” he added. “Our three boys are happy and excited.”

Rupert Grint Talks ‘Harry Potter’ World Cup Chances

Forget the NCAA Tournament: This is the bracket to end all brackets. For weeks, Harry Potter fans — in preparation for the saga’s final installment, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” opening in theaters on Friday — have been participating in our “Harry Potter” World Cup, which will determine who is the best character in the series, as chosen by you.

And after thousands of votes and some major upsets in just about every seed (Harry’s out!), we are down to the Final Four. There’s the headstrong Hermione Granger vs. the redemptive Severus Snape and the rogue Sirius vs. the beloved Ron Weasley. MTV’s own Josh Horowitz announced the exciting news to Mr. Weasley himself, Rupert Grint, to which the actor happily responded, “I’m still in it? No way!”

While Grint isn’t sure of his chances of taking the whole Cup should he end up going against Hermione or Severus in the final round (“I don’t think I could do that — I mean, Snape is a great character,” he told us), the 22-year-old is honored simply to have made it this far. “It’s amazing. It’s quite touching really,” Grint said of the “Potter” and, more specifically, Ron Weasley fans.

See the full bracket and vote!

In fact, the Cup has given the “Potter” cast the chance to see how relentlessly devoted the fans are to the series and the characters. “It’s the only time you’re kind of aware of how important these films are to people,” said Grint of events like the Cup or premieres, where devotees wait out for days and scream out for their favorite stars.

While rabid fanbases may scare off some stars of popular sagas, Grint only has the fondest feelings for those who have made the “Harry Potter” films part of their lives for the past decade. As he put it to MTV News, “It’s great. I’m going to miss it all, really.” Join the club.

“Harry Potter” fans will get the chance to determine whether Ron Weasley will go to the next round as voting for the Final Four continues through midnight. Then, the final showdown in the World Cup starts immediately at 12:01 a.m. ET on Monday, July 11. The winner of the “Harry Potter” World Cup will be announced later Monday evening during MTV’s live stream of the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ red-carpet premiere in New York.

We’re streaming live from the red carpet at the New York premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ on Monday, July 11, at 4:30 p.m. ET. Box Office: Horrible Is the Boss of Zookeeper — But Where’s Woody?

Shia LaBeouf in Transformers: Dark of the Moon

The killer bots of Transformers: Dark of the Moon trampled their two new rivals, amassing $47 million in the movie’s second weekend, according to early estimates, and earning $261 million after just 12-1/2 days in theaters to become the year’s biggest hit at the North American box office (dethroning The Hangover Part II). Chapter 3 in the terrifying toy story has done even better abroad, vrooming past the half-billion-dollar mark with a worldwide take of $558 million. Since the last Transformers grossed a global $836 million, Dark of the Moon should have a lot of battery power left. (See Richard Corliss’s review of the dark and thrilling Transformers.)

Anticipating that the third installment of the Hasbro-Bay-Spielberg franchise would continue its marauding path through the ‘plexes, two other studios counterprogrammed with new comedies aimed at specific demographics. Both did OK. Horrible Bosses, an R-rated workplace farce with a savvy ensemble cast of harried underlings (Jason Bateman, Jason Sudekis, Charlie Day) and excruciating executives (Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey), pulled in $28.1 million over the weekend, to finish second. Zookeeper, starring Kevin James as the animal-husbandry guru with the talking beasties, cadged $21 million for third place. And Woody Allen’s time-spanning romantic frolic Midnight in Paris edged toward an all-time record for the 75-year-old auteur’s films — but with a significant asterisk.

Of the two mainstream comedies, Horrible Bosses had more to crow about. Its take jumped 5% from Friday to Saturday, indicating excellent word-of-mouth as reflected in an A-minus rating for men (B-plus for women) in CinemaScore’s polling of exiting moviegoers. Made for a relatively thrifty $38 million, the movie will earn back its production costs within a couple of weeks, and be the fourth consecutive R-rated comedy — after Bridesmaids, Hang II and Bad Teacher — to outperform its pre-release forecasts and become a solid hit(See why Jason Bateman is the savior of Horrible Bosses.)

Zookeeper is an iffier proposition. After a strong showing in previews last year — and because Columbia-Sony was light on blockbuster summer fare — the studio shifted the James comedy from fall 2010 to this weekend. Zookeeper kept the kids entertained, with the under-18s giving it an A-minus CinemScore. But the movie cost $80 million to make, and a film that expensive should earn much more than a quarter of its production budget on its opening weekend. Some of the blame may fall on a hazy apprehension of the PG picture’s target audience. Deadline Hollywood’s Nikki Finke wrote that Zookeeper was rated PG-13, and Indiewire’s Anthony D’Alessandro pegged it as an R. The critics, not that they matter, didn’t care about the rating any more than they cared for the film. It pulled a libelous 15% on the Rotten Tomatoes aggregate site of reviewers.

Critics love Midnight in Paris: it has a gold-star 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Real people like Woody Allen’s movie too. It has landed in the box-office top dozen six weeks straight, and so far has earned a domestic total of $38.7 million — more than Allen’s career-topping Annie Hall, and just below Manhattan and the 1986 Hannah and Her Sisters, whose $40.1-million gross Midnight is sure to pass this week.

Will that make it Allen’s most popular movie of all time? Not quite. Not hardly. There’s a little thing called inflation, and it applies especially to the price of a movie ticket, which was less than $2.5o when Annie Hall and Manhattan were released and about $4 when Hannah opened. Today that average is above $8. So far fewer people today than then are seeing a movie that grosses $40 million.

ok, whether anyone want to believe it or not, I went to school with Justin. he isn’t racist per say, but he does have this crazed idea that he is from the “ghetto” he acts like it and talks like it if you know him. he tries to pretend he has swag, but doesn’t. not jealous of him, I’v seen first hand, how he treats girls that he claims “aren’t in his league” that’s right ladies, he is shallow. always has been. was even a bit of a bully and d-bag in school too. the way he acts on camera is exactly that, an act.

Wizardry and witchery will overflow the aisles of the Durham Public Library on Thursday, as dozens of children, dressed in sorcerer’s gowns and equipped with magic wands, celebrate the culmination of Harry Potter on the big screen

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ will hit theaters Friday, June 15.

Local fans of the popular book series and films are invited to the library’s Harry Potter Costume Party on the eve of the premier. Fans are being asked to dress up as their favorite Harry Potter character.

By Friday afternoon, 46 children – young and old – had signed up for the party at the library.

“We’re going to have Harry Potter refreshments, like butterbeer,” explained Children’s Librarian Melissa Albin.

Albin said the library will also award two pairs of tickets to the film’s premier on Friday at Destinta Theater in Middletown.

Other prizes, including books from the Harry Potter series, will be given out.

“We have a lot of kids, so it’s going to be exciting,” Albin said. “It’s just going to be a party with decorations and everyone is going to be dressed up and we’ll have a judging panel.”

Best costume prizes will be awarded by age categories.

Spotted: Chord Overstreet, Emma Roberts Party With Potter

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that’s why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

Though Chord Overstreet’s future on “Glee” is uncertain, he isn’t letting the hubbub keep him down; the 22-year-old’s been cavorting all over London this week with gal pal (and girlfriend?) Emma Roberts. Last night, the two were spotted leaving the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” after party, where Emma looked tres chic in a black and tan Max Mara dress.

Earlier in the week, the duo were snapped shopping in London’s Notting Hill Gate (Aunt Julia would be so proud!), fueling rumors that they are indeed a couple.

Emma isn’t the only pretty blond Chord’s been keeping company with this year. In February, he attended a hockey game in L.A. with songstress Taylor Swift. At the time, Chord laughed off any speculation saying, “The thing is, I have tons of friends I hang out with and if you get your picture taken with anyone, all of a sudden you’re dating.”

Sometimes, Chord, the camera doesn’t lie.

Octomom in Plane Fight with ’3rd Rock’ Star

Posted on : 10-07-2011 | By : staffwriter | In : entertainment news, Feeds, us news

Flying on a plane next to 12 screaming kids is enough to drive anyone insane — and that’s exactly what set Kristen Johnston off last night … and the 12 kids belonged to Octomom!

0709_octmom_kristen_EX
Nadya Suleman was flying back from New York City last night and her and the brood took up most of the business class section of the plane. The flight was delayed for more than two hours and Nadya tried to silence the kids — to no avail.

The crying babies annoyed the “3rd Rock from the Sun” star so much, she marched over to Nadya and told her keep it down.

Nadya’s rep tells TMZ Nadya fired back, “How would you like me to keep eight 2-year-olds quiet?” To which Kristen allegedly responded, “Get more help!”

The rep says Nadya shouted back, “Why don’t you grow a baby and get a life!”

Eventually Kristen returned to her seat, but according to Nadya’s rep … Kristen got off the plane and never returned.

We got Nadya when she belatedly landed at LAX, and she had no idea Johnston was a celebrity, telling us, “I guess there’s some people that don’t like kids.”

Attempts to reach Johnston’s reps were unsuccessful.

Following the huge success of her third studio album “Revolution”, Miranda Lambert is gearing up to release her next studio installment “Four the Record“. The country music singer is going to drop the album in the United States on November 1, just in time for Thanksgiving shopping season.

” ‘Four The Record’ has so many meanings,” she said. “I love the play on words and my records always have a little crime in them and this is the fourth record of my career. This album pushes the limits for me in many ways and I collaborate with friends and heroes. It builds on my previous albums with a whole new flair.”

A few months after the “Record” release, Miranda will release “Hell on Heels”, an album she worked with Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley under the moniker Pistol Annies, across the country on August 23. They showcased their debut as a trio on “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series at New York City’s Central Park on Friday, July 8.

In its interview, Miranda took time talk about a possible duet with her singer husband Blake Shelton. She said, “We want to actually. Hopefully, on my next record, we’re going to.” To make the duet happen, they have to work out their hectic schedule first. “He’s on ‘The Voice‘ so he’s been really busy doing that,” she said. “But we’re making time. It’s hectic, but it’s working out.”

Coincidentally, Blake Shelton rocked a similar outdoor concert a few blocks away from her that day. He performed for “Today” Summer Concert Series at Rockefeller Center. This made the married couple have some kind of morning show battle. In a playful banter on Twitter before the concert, they tried to outdo each other.

She jokingly said that her concert will likely draw more audience because she “has boobs.” Blake quickly responded, “True… But only two!!!!” She replied with another playful argument, “Well, if you count Pistol Annies I have six!” They later ended the Twitter conversation by exchanging “I love you” notes.

A small fire erupted during Rihanna’s concert in Dallas last night, while the pop star was singing “California King Bed.”

According to People, stage hands quickly took control of the incident, vanishing the flames in front of over 12,000 fans.

Following the blaze, Rihanna took to her Twitter to announce, “DALLAS!!! We set the stage on FYAH tonight!!! LITERALLY!!! I’m so pissed, I was havin so much fun wit yall too!!! I gotta come back man!!”

In a separate tweet, she wrote, “DALLAS yall CRAY!!! Love this fuckin place! Glad u guys are safe!!! I promise I’ll be back!!! #MoFYAH.”

Reuters states that representatives for both Rihanna and the Dallas police and fire departments were not available for comment.

In her most recent tweet, she reveals, “Heading into a production meeting to find out exactly what happened.” Hopefully the pyrotechnics will not be an issue for future shows.

“Horrible Bosses,” which stars Jennifer Aniston and a slew of comedic geniuses took in $9.9 million on Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie is on track to earn $25 million for the weekend and had a modest estimated production budget of $35 million.

The movie stars Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day as disgruntled workers who plot to murder their bosses, portrayed by Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell.

“Horrible Bosses” opened behind the Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake comedy “Bad Teacher,” which grossed $12.2 million on its first Friday and ahead of Universal’s “Bridesmaids,” which earned $7.8 on its first day.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” which stars Shia LaBeouf and Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, continued to earn big in the box office, grossing another $14.9 million on Friday for a cume of almost $229 million. The movie had an estimated production budget of $195 million.

“Transformers” is expected to reach a $260 million cume through the weekend, which would make it the top domestic title of the year, beating out “The Hangover Part II,” which earned $249.6 million.

The Kevin James comedy “Zookeeper” landed in third place, earning an estimated $7.4 million. The film, which also stars Rosario Dawson and Leslie Bibb is expected to gross $21 million for the weekend.

Harry Potter and the AZ of magic

AZKABAN place

A prison for wizards in JK Rowling‘s fictional world, its name was in the title of her third Potter book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This instalment was, by wide agreement, the high point – a compact, intricately plotted novel, as twisty as a detective yarn, brilliantly brought to screen by director Alfonso Cuarón in 2004.

BABBLING CHARM spell

Rendered a victim incapable of coherent communication; possibly what Rowling was suffering from when it came to writing the fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was awful, 766 pages (766!) of padded guff in which Rowling’s trio of young wizards – Harry, Ron and Hermione – spent far too much time shouting at each other to little narrative end. When the book was brought to the screen by director David Yates in 2007, it made for the worst movie in the series, too.

CONFRINGO spell

Used to blow things up, something that happens a lot in the battle-heavy final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. (It premiered in London on Friday and is in UK cinemas this week). With no more novel left to film, producers decided to go for broke and blow all hell out of the long-standing set they’d built in Leavesden, near Watford, Hertfordshire; one crew member estimated that half a ton of balsa wood went up in smoke during filming. It was all very Saving Private Ryan, said the film’s star, Daniel Radcliffe.

EEYLOPS OWL EMPORIUM place

Shop where Rowling’s young wizards bought their pet owls. Predictably, demand for owls shot up when Harry Potter became popular in the late 90s. It prompted animal experts to remind the nation that the temperamental birds made bad pets and were capable of removing, say, an eight-year-old’s eye with their talons.

ENGORGIO spell

Used to make people fatter; potentially of great use to makeup man Nick Dudman, who had to deal with the changing shape of the film’s young actors (most of whom were cast when they were pre-teens) as they grew older. Of actor Harry Melling, who played Harry’s bullying nemesis Dudley, Dudman recalled: “He was always this portly kid. Suddenly a tall, willowy drama student came down the hall and nobody recognised him.” (Without magic to call on, Dudman had to “put him in fat makeup”.)

FELIX FELICIS potion

Made the drinker feel lucky. Rowling liked to give the occasional cheeky wink to grown-up readers (see number six’s jokes around the word “orgy”) and film-makers followed suit. Radcliffe acknowledged “drug allusions” in the luck potion scenes in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as well as other references which were “very, very thinly veiled… Harry goes and finds [a teacher] cutting up leaves in a greenhouse, and talking about their street value…”

FINITE INCANTATEM spell

Used to negate another’s powers, perhaps cast over the critics who have complained that the Potter films are unreviewable. “Go. Don’t go,” said the Detroit Metro Times‘s critic last year. “Nothing I write will make a difference.”

GOBLET OF FIRE object

Magical trinket with a minor part in the fourth book; inexplicably given prominence in that book’s title, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. According to rumour, the author was first going to name the instalment after the magical wizards’ tournament around which the plot is structured, but when word of this leaked on the internet she sought to confound the leakers by switching titles. Fair enough, but bringing the Goblet to prominence made about as much sense as Romeo and Juliet being called Friar Lawrence and Nurse.

IMPERIO spell

Gave somebody the power to control the actions of another. The young actors in the Potter films often spoke of the strangeness in reading each new book by Rowling, flicking through the pages to see what they’d be required to do over the next year. Rowling’s custodian-like power over them came to a head in 2004 when a 14-year-old Emma Watson went to see her and asked if she was going to end up having to kiss one or other of her co-stars. “Oh,” Rowling told her, “you’re going to have to kiss both.”

LEGILIMENS practice

The magical art of “seeing” another’s buried emotions. One of the most touching elements of the books was Rowling’s careful interweaving of her own personal struggles into the stories. Harry was crafted as an orphan because Rowling had just lost her mother when she began writing; the shadowy, pleasure-sapping entities known as “dementors” that first turned up in book three were a literary embodiment of the author’s struggles with depression in her late twenties.

LEPRECHAUN GOLD object

Enchanted money that looked and felt real but which disappeared after a few hours. No such worries for creator or cast: their loot’s real all right. The franchise was recently valued at £9.3bn, of which film leads Radcliffe, Watson and Rupert Grint are said to have made upwards of £25m each. Rowling, meanwhile, makes £1m afresh every three days.

LOVE POTION potion

Magical liquid introduced by Rowling in book six, but present, evidently, on the set of the films from the beginning. At least if producer David Heyman’s recent admission is anything to go by: “We’ve had babies born. We’ve had people die. We’ve had marriages and divorces. We’ve had fights and romances, virginity broken and, er, maybe people having sex for the last time.” Watson has recently admitted that, in the early days, she had a thing for Tom Felton (the actor who played baddie Draco Malfoy); Grint hinted last month that things got a little hormonal whenever teenage extras were brought on to set for big scenes. When this was put to producer Heyman, he said: “Oh, you could smell it.”

OBLIVIATE spell

Scuppered memory. Radcliffe has recalled having to guide a (presumably squiffy) Richard Harris through lines the actor couldn’t recall. “I remember being this tiny kid [on the first two films] but in diplomatic mode going up to him and saying, ‘Richard, would you mind running lines with me?’ Just so that he’d have to learn them.”

POLYJUICE POTION potion

Allowed the drinker to take on the physical appearance of somebody else. Clearly moreish – Rowling started to depend on it as her series wore on. Quietly introduced in book two, used to brilliant effect in book four, Rowling, by book seven, was using the stuff to get her characters out of almost every narrative corner. The kids needed to disguise themselves? Polyjuice potion! The kids needed to break into a goblin bank? Polyjuice potion! They were glugging the stuff about once a chapter by the end.

PRIOR INCANTATO spell

Revealed any prior magic conjured up by a wizard. Oh, to use it on Rowling and make her reveal the two adult novels she wrote before embarking on HP. “Very crap,” she has said of the manuscripts, apparently buried in a drawer somewhere. Other unpublished scribblings, HP-related ones, have been repurposed as part of Rowling’s new website, Pottermore.co.uk, launched last month. Officially described as an “exciting online experience” for fans, sceptics have wondered whether the site might be a canny way to promote a line of Potter ebooks that will go on sale in October.

QUIDDITCH practice

Magical sport, invented, popularised, and eventually detested by Rowling. “The bane of my life,” she admitted of the game in which wizards chased balls while riding brooksticks. The film’s cast seem to like it little better; Radcliffe has wincingly recalled the bicycle seat attachment on his broomstick that was used to film bruising early quidditch scenes.

RESURRECTION STONE object

Ancient stone that let the living speak to the dead. If only Michael Gambon had had one… When Richard Harris died in 2002, Gambon took over the role of Harry’s whimsical mentor, the Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Except Gambon didn’t play the character whimsically – going off-piste in the fourth film, Goblet of Fire, when he had Dumbledore berate and even manhandle Harry over a trifle. It wasn’t in the book, was quite madly out of character, and fans were left to wonder whether Gambon had read the source material.

STEALTH SENSORING SPELL spell

Exposed stealthy wizards in magical disguise. Undoubtedly this was what undid a forklift truck driver at a Suffolk printing plant in 2003, when he tried to smuggle some pages of the fifth book to a tabloid. He was caught with the stolen sheaves in his lunchbox.

WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA spell

Used to make objects levitate; also the inspiration for Harry Potter’s Levitating Challenge, a £39.99 plastic playset released as part of Mattel’s first line of HP toys in 2001. These early products were unpopular with everybody from toyshop owners (“the same old stuff with a licence on it”) to consumers’ associations, who called it “ludicrous” that the toys were almost twice as expensive in the UK as they were in the US. Harry Potter-themed Lego sets, on sale since 2002, have proved more popular.

ZONKO’S JOKE SHOP place

Emporium frequented by wizards, built for real last year as an attraction at the Harry Potter theme park that opened in Florida last year. The park’s opening prompted London mayor Boris Johnson to say that it was “utterly mad to leave it to the Americans to make money from a great British invention”; there are now plans to build a Harry Potter visitors’ centre on the site of the Leavesden studios.
